1. Standard size 520 × 110 mm for single-line Euro plates
Under Anlage 4 (Annex 4) of the Fahrzeug-Zulassungsverordnung (FZV), the German vehicle registration ordinance, the regular maximum size for single-line license plates on cars, motorhomes and trailers is 520 × 110 mm. This plate accommodates up to 8 characters (Unterscheidungszeichen, i.e. the district code, + identification letters + digits + E/H/season suffix where applicable).
- 520 × 110 mm: statutory standard size for up to 8 characters (fits all standard plate holders)
- 460 × 110 mm & 420 × 110 mm: shortened blanks for short combinations (5 to 6 characters)
- 340 × 200 mm & 280 × 200 mm: two-line plates for cars, off-road vehicles and trailers
- 180 × 200 mm (as well as 200 × 200 mm / 220 × 200 mm): official motorcycle plate for motorbikes
2. Certification under DIN 74069
Every license plate used on public roads in Germany must comply with the industrial standard DIN 74069. Our plates carry the embossed DIN CERTCO registration mark, the reflective security watermark and an abrasion-resistant hot-stamping foil.
